HISTORY

The origin story of the Explore Industries group begins with Leisure Pools, founded by Kerry and David Pain. Starting the business from very humble beginnings, they began manufacturing composite fiberglass swimming pools and developing a Dealer network throughout Australia.

Additionally, the first model in the Leisure Pools range, “The Moroccan,” is constructed from a mold made by hand (11.7m or 38’ in length).

Leisure Pools reaches across the globe and exhibits their range of offerings at the International Pool and Spa Show in Dallas, Texas.

In less than three years, product demand necessitates larger facilities, prompting the small team to relocate to a larger manufacturing facility in Yatala, off the Gold Coast in Queensland.

The Group identified the North American market, the largest swimming pool market in the world, as a growth opportunity given that composite fiberglass swimming pools represented only a very small market share. 

The Group started exporting product to the USA and developing a base of business.

After receiving strong market acceptance, the Group established its first manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas. From this manufacturing base, it provided the foundation to grow Leisure Pools in North America.

Additionally, “The Elegance” range is developed, challenging the industry’s current mold with the first introduction of square corners in a composite fiberglass swimming pool.

While the Group continued to expand in Australia and North America, demand for Leisure Pools products started to come from Asia and the Middle East. Swimming pools were manufactured in Australia and exported to Dealers in these new markets.

Further expansion included Europe with strong interest from Dealers in Belgium, France, the United Kingdom and Germany. In short time, multiple distribution locations were established to service the European market. 

In a short time, production is expanded to double manufacturing output and a Polymer Chemist is brought on board to help develop a revolutionary construction method that has played an integral part of our history of commitment to research and development.

The Group purchased an 84-acre island in Knoxville, Tennessee and outfits the facility to be a high performance pool manufacturing facility. It is now the world’s largest composite fiberglass pool manufacturing facility and home to our Worldwide Headquarters.

Additions of “The Ultimate“, “The Icon“, “The Allure“, “The Pinnacle and “The Eclipse” into the range of offerings, taking composite fiberglass pools to the next level with innovative integrations of spas and splash pads into select models.

In 2015, Explore Industries formed a long-term relationship with PoolCorp, the world’s largest distributor of swimming pool products, to manufacture a whole new range of composite fiberglass swimming pools under the new brand name Imagine Pools.

Additionally, in the spirit of exploration, the Group diversified through a new venture in Orion Composites, a contract composite manufacturer. From 2015 to 2022, Orion Composites manufactured boats for HCB, the premium offshore center console brand.

In 2017, Explore Industries formed a long-term relationship with LPW Pools, one of Europe’s oldest and most trusted swimming pool brands, to become their exclusive composite fiberglass swimming pool manufacturer.

in 2018, Explore Industries diversified their product line with swimming pool covers, diving into the manufacturing of automatic swimming pool covers under the brand Integra Pool Covers.

Additionally, Explore Industries formed a long-term relationship with Mattimmo Pools, a pool distributor based in Belgium, to become their composite fiberglass swimming pool manufacturer.

In 2019, Explore Industries again launched a brand new line of Composite Swimming Pools under the brand Aviva Pools.

Fighting Grime one Pool at a Time! Explore Industries launched a new pool service franchise under the brand Ultra Pool Care Squad, with a focus on developing an international network of pool service experts via a franchised business model.

In 2022, Explore Industries began planning to launch a 4th line of composite fiberglass swimming pools under the brand Nexus Pools with production and distribution set to support the Australasia market.
